A perfectly maintained hiking network with 400 kilometres of trails in the summer and 70 kilometres in the winter leaves nothing to be desired. One highlight for the whole family is the highly varied five-lakes trail, which offers amazing views of the enormous surrounding peaks. Situated at 3,260 metres above sea level, the Hörnlihütte is both a huge attraction for ambitious hikers and the starting point for Matterhorn climbers.

Look forward to 360 kilometres of pistes with spectacular views of the Matterhorn and almost 40 other 4,000-metre peaks in Europe’s highest ski resort. And if you start to feel peckish or thirsty, the piste-side restaurants are unrivalled worldwide. The restaurants and mountain huts in the ski resort can get very busy, so it’s important to book tables in advance. If you don’t have any skis with you, you can hire modern equipment from our partner Matterhorn Sport, situated just three minutes’ walk away in Haus Riva.
